The Importance and Benefits of Studying Seerah
"Off course I love him!" this is the answer Muslims give when asked, Do you love the Prophet (pbuh)”. But do we really love him (pbuh)? Do we really know who he was enough to love him (pbuh)?
Studying Seerah is a sign of our love for the Prophet (pbuh). When you love somebody it is natural that you would want to know as much as possible about that person. Similarly, if you love the Prophet (pbuh) there has to be an indication of your love for him (pbuh). If a person claims to love Mohammed (pbuh) then there must be an interest in him, or a reason as to why they love the Prophet (pbuh). There must have been something special in the Prophet (pbuh) that makes a person love the Prophet (pbuh) over everyone else. We learn those special things about the Prophet (pbuh) by studying his life, his seerah. By doing so, we also derive lessons and morals from his life and aim to build a character of a decent and balanced person who is a valuable asset to society.
