Why study Fiqh?

"The seeking of knowledge is obligatory upon every Muslim (male and female)."
As Muslims, it is a duty to follow the rules that have been prescribed to us by our Creator. But ask yourself this, how can we follow the rulings and laws of Shariah, if we are unable to understand them? So, primarily we must understand the rules before applying them and this is the purpose of the fiqh circles.
The word Fiqh means knowledge and understanding in religion. The Holy Prophet (saw) has given us glad tidings that, 'Acquiring knowledge in company for an hour in the night is better than spending the whole night in prayer.' May the path of understanding be made easy for us all.
